In the old days of psychoanalysis it was believed that the psychotherapist should (from the patient’s viewpoint) be a blank screen, freely enabling the patient to imagine or project any kind of being onto the person of the psychotherapist. However extensive modern research into all the factors which contribute to successful therapy has shown that the nature of the relationship between therapist and client is the single most important determining factor. One purpose of this website is to provide you with information about me as a therapist to help you to decide if you would like to work with me.
I am hoping that if you have not experienced psychotherapy these few pages may give you some idea of its aims, purposes and methods of achieving its objectives. Every psychotherapist operates out of, and is informed by, their own individually experienced and examined life history; thus If you have experience of psychotherapy I am hoping that knowing a little of my background in psychotherapy will add to your own perspective.
